DPACK is a lightweight, remote, and agentless collection tool that supports the monitoring of many servers into a single file.The tool is generally run for a period of 24 hours and will produce a file with an extension of .iokit. These files are small enough to return by email. Once processed you can share with your customers an in-depth view of their server performance and capacity requirements that are useful in making future IT decisions as it relates to their business’ key needs. DPACK supports the monitoring of Windows, Linux, or entire VMware clusters through vCenter.
Understand your Environment
DPACK runs agentless to gather core requirements such as disk IO, throughput, capacity and memory utilization. It also produces an in-depth view of server workload and capacity requirements. DPACK has the ability to generate two kinds of reports:
- An aggregation of resource needs across disparate servers with a simulation of those workloads, from consolidated to shared resources
- An in-depth individual server report to be used by IT administrators to search for potential bottlenecks or hotspots that need to be engineered out of a new design
